What happens at an initial appointment or initial psychiatric interview?

A practitioner will review your screeners and assessments, ask about your past physical and mental health history, along with family history and much more. Then the practitioner will provide recommendations for treatment, which could include medication, therapy or lifestyle changes.

Do I need to follow-up with a practitioner if I need a refill?

Yes, it is imperative that a patient follow-up with their practitioner. At follow-up appointments a practitioner will assess for effectiveness of the medication, side effects and overall progress. Upon meeting during a follow-up, the medication or dosage a patient is recommended could change.
